On this anniversary day, we joined literally hundreds in commerating the naming of "Blecksmith Hall" in Pasadena. Truer words were never spoken from the podium: "It will be the first word we will see and the last one we'll forget." My very best to the family and friends of JP on this special day.

Two years to the day that JP gave his life, I sit here in Camp Fallujah, Iraq and reflect on his sacrifice. He was one of my students, and I hope I was able to set a positive example for him. But I find it interesting that I often find myself referring to his example--of selfless leadership and servitude--as I try to complete this deployment and lead my Marines effectively. He was a good, good man. And he made a tremendous difference in the lives of all of us whom he touched. Thanks for your service and your example, JP. Happy Veterans day, Happy Birthday, and SEMPER FIDELIS. Capt Wilson

Today Marines accross the globe will raise a glass to their beloved Corp. They will salute men Like JP who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their Corp.
I sleep in my bed at night knowing half a world away there is a Marine in a hole protecting my way of life. JP was one of those Marines, He gave his life so this country could sleep without worry. He gave his life so he could lead and protect Marines. His sacrifice will never be forgotten- Thank You Lt. Blecksmith

Today is my works Remembrance Day Service. I'll be thinking of JP as I promised when I first heard about him, from the T-shirt Mark Harmon's character, Gibbs, wore in an NCIS episode. Nice touch that in the week of the 2nd anniversary of JPs death that Mark wore the T-shirt again. He obviously remembers also.

JP was the "other" big dude in my IOC class. He was loved and respected by me and all the Marines in our class. I have recently started medical school and have run into some controversy about the whole situation in Iraq. I will tell you this, till the day I die my Integrity lies with JP.

As a senior at Flintridge, I have heard so much about JP. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Blecksmith in my mom's office this past week, and I just wanted to say that he was one of a kind and is a role model for us all here at Prep.

Tonight I'm up thinking about you JP.
I was working on my site and under the section labeled heros, I realized just how much, in some otherworldly way, you are indeed one of mine.
God bless the Blecksmith family!

I just stumbled upon this and I had to check it out. Jaeps was like a brother to me. We played ball together at the academy, and we had the same sponser. I spent countless weekends with him. I begged him to take that rocket of an arm he had and go to USC. He wouldn't do it. At the time I didn't know why. He had that much honor, courage, and respect for his dad that he threw away a chance to be the BMOC at USC, possibly play in NFL, live the "sweet life" of a high profile athelete at a high profile school to do what he felt was right in his heart. God bless him. I'll aways remember and miss him. I'm teaching ROTC now and one of my students asked about him. My mood changed that instant. I don't think I can speak well enough to descibe what a man he was.

As a former Marine and officer I understand very well the patriotism and commitment to duty he felt. I am deeply moved by the site and your willingness to share his life with others. In the pictures you've presented you see a young man with his life ahead of him and the skies the limit. Now so much is gone and my sympathy goes out for all that he may have accomplished and for those family and friends that forever will miss him. God bless you and your son and the Marines and Soldiers in Iraq and Afganastan who still have much to do before they rest. God Bless and Semper Fi.

I had the privelege of watching JP play football at the Naval Academy his senior year. My own son Anthony, was at the time, a plebe. Specifically I remember JP throwing a long pass against Northwestern, that subsequently resulted in a Navy touchdown.
I offer you my condolences on your great loss and my thanks for JP's sacrifice for America. We are proud that our son has since graduated from the Academy and has followed JP's path into the Marine Corp. These young Marines are indeed, very special people.

Deepest regrets on the loss of your son. I know this will be little consolation but his optimism for a better Iraq appears correct. In spite of the negative media reporting, things appear progressively better. As I work in Iraq, I have seen a positive change in the last 9 months. His sacrifice was not in vain. Congrats on this mornings annual 5k run! It was lots of fun. Although I live right down the street, I only first learned of it by reading Hugh Hewitt's blog. But that's ok! Now that I know about it, I plan on making it an annual event. It's such a great cause. Thank you for putting it together. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this event.
