I did not know JP, but knew his dad and knew how proud he was of JP. Thank you JP for your fight for freedom and your sacrifice for our country.

I got here from CAPT Brian Stann's website. JP was a hero; his parents did their job. God bless all of them.

I proud to be a Marine and ever thankful that our country has fine young men like JP. It makes me sad to think of all he could have done. He represents our best and the best we have to give. He will always be remembered. Semper Fidelis and God Bless this fine young man.

This morning when I was looking through the Pasadena Star News, I discovered that JP's Mom passed away on January 11th. Please accept my condolences to the whole Blecksmith/McCormick families. I had made a small 'Memory Book' in honor of JP when he was taken and mailed it to her. About 1 1/2 years ago I ordered a T-shirt and enclosed a note. Mrs. Blecksmith wrote me a very nice letter in return. I never met her, but she sounds like she was a wonderful lady. I know she will be deeply missed.

WHEN YOU WERE SHOT I WAS RIGHT NEXT TO YOU. "FIG" AND I TRIED TO HELP YOU. WE DID WHAT WE COULD THEN NICK CAME AND WE GAVE YOU C.P.R. BUT GOD CALLED YOU HOME. THAT DAY HAD THE BIGGEST IMPACKED ON ME THEN ANY OTHER IN MY INTIRE LIFE. MY HEART STILL HURTS WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT, EVERY DAY. YOU ARE MISSED.

JP makes me want to be a better man. We are roughly the same age - yet I feel like a boy looking up to him.

Deeply grateful for JP's sacrifice and honor.
Looking forward, Ed, to seeing you on the 15th.

Just read the article at Details and realized JP grew up in my area (I live in Rosemead). What a wonderful man and son...I wanted to add my gratefulness for his duty (as does my dad, a WWII veteran) and that I know he will never be forgotten...

I just read JP's story in DETAILS magazine. There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said, and there's no experience I can draw on, other then the death of my parents, to know your felling of loss. As a non-military person the most profound thing I can say is Thank You...to not only JP, but his parents, brother and sister, and all those that loved him. Though I love our Country and our future....the United States would be a much better place if more men and women grew up to be statesman & stateswoman like JP. In the words of Aristotle, "What the statesman is most anxious to produce is a ertian moral character in his fellow citizens, namely a disposition to virtue and the performance of virtuous actions."
