Dearest JP,
Of course I didn't forget you on this Nov 11th. As always, you are in my thoughts. My Dad passed away on Monday. Make sure you say Hi. He'll be the old guy playing golf.
Love, Lois

My thoughts are with the Blecksmith family and Emily. I thank him for his service to our country, without his sacrifices we would not have our liberty and freedom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Three years have past since I first learned about JP, when I asked about the T-shirt Mark Harmon was wearing on NCIS and once again tomorrow where I work we will hold our Remembrance Ceremony and I will again wear JPs T shirt during the two minutes silence. This year I know a Royal Commando who has recently deployed to Afghanistan, so I will think of him as well.

I just donated $25 to the USO for its work on Veterans Day.
I made the donation in the name of 2nd LT. JP Blecksmith, USMC.
God bless him and his fallen comrades.

I did not know Lt. Blecksmith, but I was a medic attached to 3/5 Marines in Nov 2004. I was touched by how many people were moved by his passing. You have turned tragedy into this amazing foundation. I wish I would have had the priledge of knowing Lt. Blecksmith; however I can clearly see he was surrounded by amazing people that loved him. God Bless.

Hi from France,
I'm a big fan of NCIS and a huge fan of Sean Murray (actor). And among them, I discover your association. All the love which you carry to your son (and friend) allowed you to transform a tragedy into a work of charity and kindness. For that, I respect you infinitely. As French, I'm profoundly grateful to the American soldiers who allowed us to go out of the hell of the second world war.France is a free country thanks to your help and we always remember that. By this e-mail, I wish to send you all my friendship and my support for your association and your work.

"Where do we get such men"? As a nation, we are fortunate for men such as Lt. JP Blecksmith, and we are fortunate also to have parents who raise a son that is so selfless and decent and honorable. Words alone cannot describe a man like Lt. Blecksmith, nor the men he led. I am certain he had the respect of those he served under, and the respect and love of the men he commanded. I can only offer my thanks, my respect and my admiration to Lt. Blecksmith and his family.
A grateful American

This is not a solicitation. Our son was killed in Iraq in Dec. 2006. We want to start a foundation so are interested in speaking with you on how it is working for you.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your sacrifice.

My son will be starting 7th grade at Prep in the fall. I have heard about so many kids from Prep who reinforce the fact that this school is the best place for my son, but no story comes close to JP's. I look forward to my son and I running in 5K event for many years to come. JP was the kind of man America has always needed. As my son runs next year, he will know the story, and hopefully make some part of JP's strength his own. Thank you.

Melissa Filbeck said:

Although I didn't know him then, I went to Prep at the same time as JP. (I was in the class 3 years ahead of him.) I also am a veteran of the Iraq war. I've been to Fallujah... reading JP's story bring tears to my eyes. You have every right to be very proud of your son.

I, too, watched "Company of Heroes" on Fox News last night. Hearing and seeing the story about J.P, and the other Marines made me so proud to be an American. The best way we can help re-pay the sacrifice these warriers have paid is to not take lightly the freedoms we enjoy in this country and to never forget that brave men like J.P. died to keep us free. I am so thankful for J.P. Blecksmith. May God bless his family and God bless his special soul.

Dear Blecksmith Family,
I am watching a Fox news special, Company of Heroes,as I am getting ready for a Memorial Day barbeque this afternoon. I cannot continue, however, until I get these words to you. Your son, JP, was indeed a man of valor, a selfless and honorable young man. I marvel in awe that our country produces such fine young men and weep that they leave us far too soon. Your pain comes over the television almost palpable and it is a measure of the great joy JP brought into your life. I am humbled by Gold Star families like yours and pray for you. Someday in the coming years little Iraqui children will know the sweetness of freedom and the American soldiers like JP Blecksmith who sacrificed to make it so.
